Arts and creativity are essential to every student’s educational experience, teaching innovation, critical thinking, collaboration, communication and self-expression.
The Shooting Stars Program celebrates student artists and their arts educators with recognition, college scholarships and teacher honorariums. Shooting Stars has recognized over 1,000 high school seniors for their artistic excellence and contributions to their community since 1997!
With help from generous donors like you, 18 college scholarships are awarded (9 first place scholarships of $1,400 each and 9 second place scholarships of $700 each) and 9 teacher honorariums* of $300 are awarded (*to the nominating teacher of the first-place scholarship recipient) at the annual Shooting Stars Gala on April 6, 2025.
To participate in Shooting Stars, students must be a senior in high school (12th grade), a resident of Johnson County, KS and nominated by their high school arts teacher. After students are nominated by their high school teacher and submit their application, they become Shooting Stars finalists.
