In October of 2021, the Arts Council of Johnson County (ACJC) hosted the first annual Kansas Arts Councils Symposium in partnership with the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission (KCAIC). From the conversations that took place at the symposium it is clear that there is a desire to develop some kind of network for advocacy, communication and the continued exchange of ideas.
Building on that momentum and excitement, the Kansas Arts Advocacy Network Steering Committee was formed. This steering committee will help develop and inform the arts councils network as well as help build the framework. They will also help communicate this new idea to the constituencies in their region and will assist in building an Advocacy Committee that specifically focuses on arts advocacy in the state of Kansas.
