The Giggle Time Children’s Program is a beloved community tradition in Overland Park designed to get toddlers and young children moving, laughing, and learning. The program hosts a diverse rotation of high-energy performers including popular regional musicians like Mr. Stinky Feet, the StoneLion Puppet Theatre, and various storytellers and magicians. Each session is built around the "giggle and wiggle" philosophy, encouraging active participation from the kids rather than just passive listening. Because the program is free and requires no pre-registration, it serves as a flexible, low-pressure outing for parents and caregivers. The venue shifts with the seasons to take advantage of the weather: events are typically held indoors at the Tomahawk Ridge Community Center during the cooler months and move outdoors to Roe Park in June and August. It’s a great way for local families to connect while introducing children to the performing arts in a fun, accessible environment.

Recollections is a collaborative poetry and printmaking exhibit with Kansas Poet Laureate Traci Brimhall and printmaker and graphic designer Lori Stanziola.

𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗶 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘇𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗮
Lori Stanziola (she/her) is a Kansas City based artist specializing in fine art printmaking. Drawing on her experience as a designer, Lori revels in the use of graphic shapes and patterns to create richly layered works from hand carved blocks. Her work depicts patterns, contrasts and rhythms present in land, flora and food that serve to evoke emotions and shared experiences. Lori was the featured artist for Lawrence Art in the Park in 2021, was chosen as the featured print artist for Smoky Hill River Fest in 2024, and her work/booth was awarded Best in Show at the 2026 Prairie Village Art Show.

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗶 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹
Traci Brimhall is a university distinguished professor of creative writing at Kansas State University, as well as the 2025 Poet-in-Residence at the Guggenheim and the current poet laureate of Kansas, where her initiatives have centered on uniting the state’s agricultural roots with the literary arts. She is the author of five collections of poetry, most recently Love Prodigal (Copper Canyon Press, 2024). Her nonfiction debut, The Grief Artist, will be published by Sarabande Books in 2026.

State of The Arts 2026 is the Prairie Village Arts Council's 20th annual REGIONAL juried competition for all 2D and 3D artworks, photography, and poetry/prose held every Fall. The Exhibition runs during the months of September & October. Why is State of the Arts the biggest exhibition on the Prairie Village Arts Council (PVAC) calendar? Several reasons stand out, including the exhibition's competition aspect. The PVAC receives hundreds of applications each year, guaranteeing a wide range of artistic styles and subject matter, all entered in hopes of winning the $1,000 Best in Show award. The juried competition also selects Merit awards worth $750 each. The turnout for this show is always strong, boosted in part by the chance to vote for the $250 People's Choice award. An important part of State of the Arts' appeal is its diversity, with stunning florals hanging near traditional depictions of Kansas City landmarks, feet away from daring landscapes, incisive portraits, and abstract pieces that provoke images and feelings in the mind of the viewer. Formed by three renowned musicians from the international concert scene, the ensemble was established in 2023 during the double anniversary of Sergei Rachmaninoff in the “Rachmaninoff Project 150–80,” where they successfully performed two programs featuring the composer’s complete chamber works with piano as part of the International Cervantino Festival. During 2024–25, they gave the closing concerts of the José Rolón International Music Festival and the KammerMex–DeutschMusikFest International Festival, and also performed at the Palace of Fine Arts. Its members—Aron Bitran, violin; Álvaro Bitran, cello; and Rodolfo Ritter, piano—are musicians who have won numerous awards and distinctions, including the Latin Grammy, the National Prize for Sciences and Arts, and the Fine Arts Medal, as well as critical acclaim and international reviews in Gramophone, Pizzicato, Fanfare, Diapason d’Or, International, Music Recordings, and Klassik. They maintain an important discography and an active career both as soloists and as chamber musicians.

What to expect: The Lodge Wine Experience invites guests to explore a selection of wines guided through a tasting-style experience, featuring a variety of reds, whites, and seasonal selections. BEPPE GAMBETTA first came to the United States in 1985 and then returned in 1988 to travel through the US with the first available Sony digital DAT machine. He managed to meet and record a collection of duets with 12 of the most admired guitarists in the American bluegrass/folk genre including Norman Blake, Mike Marshall, Charles Sawtelle, John Jorgenson and David Grier. In 1989 Beppe Gambetta crossed the “Iron curtain” to perform at the Porta Festival in Czeckoslovakia and sensed the revolutionary wave that in those days expressed itself also thorugh the music. In that occasion he started an important collaboration with American banjo master Tony Trischka. In the 1990s Gambetta started to tour on a regular basis with American guitar legend Dan Crary (in Europe and then in the US and Australia). Dan Crary was able to introduce him to the organizers of the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, KS, a major guitar event and home to important guitar contests. Gambetta's performances at Winfield opened the door to him becoming a regular part of the American Festival scene. In 1993 he met and collaborated with Gene Parsons, a former member of the legendary folk-rock band, The Byrds. Parsons performed on Gambetta's first solo American CD “Good News From Home” (1995) on the then preminent folk and Celtic label “Green Linnet”. In this album, Gambetta started to blend his love for American Roots with elements of European tradition moving away from being known strictly as a hot bluegrass picker to create his own multi-national style. In the late 1990s he launched a project to research the forgotten music of the Italian String Virtuosi of the turn-of-the-century. He focused on reviving the music and re-building the instruments of legendary Genovese harp-guitarist Pasquale Taraffo (1887-1937). This work led to the recording of two CDs “Serenata” (1997) and “Traversata” (2001). He has continued his research along the path of musicians and emigrations including to date producing shows of Italian revival in Europe, US and Argentina. In 2001, Beppe Gambetta and his wife Federica Calvino Prina inaugurated “Beppe Gambetta Acoustic Nights”, a series of annual concerts that bring together different top-notch International musicians each year, planned around a special musical “theme”. Held each spring at the 1000-seat Teatro Ivo Chiesa – Teatro Nazionale in Genova, Italy for three or four consecutive evenings, the performances have established themselves as one of the preeminent events in the European musical scene and are regularly broadcast by the Italian National Radio (RAI Radio 3). From 2002 to today, Beppe Gambetta focused his work mainly on his solo carreer, touring constantly and naturally and seamlessly joining the shores of the two continents, Europe and America, creating in spite of the interposed ocean a musical fusion where American roots music and Ligurian tradition, emigration songs and folk ballads, steel string guitars and vintage harp guitars not only co-exist but interact, weaving a deep dialog unaware of any rigid classification.

On April 23, 2019 Beppe was awarded with the title of “Genoa Ambassador To The World” by the Genoa Mayor Marco Bucci for the following reason: “Beppe Gambetta has built countless bridges between Genoa and the Americas, combining the rich culture of his hometown with the beauty of the American roots and adding in his compositions contemporary influences to the traditions he mastered. He has been a true Ambassador of the Genovese culture in all his studies, productions and performances”.

For his 14th CD (Where The Wind Blows, Borealis Records, Canada 2020) Beppe Gambetta revealed himself to be not simply a master guitarist but also a new songwriter of great feeling, wisdom and maturity. “Where The Wind Blows” is a collection of songs and tunes all written, arranged and performed by Beppe with the extraordinary collaboration of American bass player Rusty Holloway and percussionist Joe Bonadio. The CD title track “Dove Tia O Vento” was a finalist in the “Best Song” Category at the Italian Awards Premio Tenco 2020.

The 2024 new release Terra Madre (Mother Earth) is a musical key to open a world of tales and dreams related to the motherlands of infinite possible itineraries, and to the cries of pain and hope that rise from them. The record weaves together the experience and wisdoms of a fifty-year career, and the work is further enriched by the participation of internationally-renowned guests from different musical genres. "Fathers" of acoustic music such as American mandolin icon David Grisman, acoustic guitar pioneer Dan Crary, and celebrated bluegrass and Americana singer-songwriter Tim O'Brien lend their talents to the project. Different dimensions are added by the presence of New York avant-garde drummer/percussionist Joe Bonadio, the versatile acoustic jazz harmonica player Howard Levy, and from the world of "Newgrass” Jam Bands, the hugely popular bassist, Travis Book.

The Overland Park Fall Festival is a long-standing tradition that transforms the historic Downtown district into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly celebration of local culture. TATIANA DOROKHOVA plays with virtuosity, a sensitive touch and a clear understanding of cultural context and style. She deftly performs music encompassing all eras from the Baroque to the present.Even during her formative years, despite her young age, distinguished musicians repeatedly noted the impressive maturity of Tatiana’s musical interpretations; her performances invariably left deep and lasting marks in the hearts of listeners around the globe. Today, Tatiana continues to leave strong memories as she plays concerts in the most prestigious halls of Europe, the United States and Asia.Born in Volgograd in southern Russia into a family of musicians, Tatiana began studying music at the age of 6. Her talent was immediately discovered, and it was decided that she would move to Moscow to study at the Moscow Conservatory with Professor Alexander Mndoyants, a laureate of the 5th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Later, she served as his assistant at the conservatory.In 2023, Tatiana joined the International Center for Music at Park University (USA) studying with an outstanding teacher – Stanislav Ioudenitch, Gold Medalist of the 11th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Under his sensitive guidance, Tatiana became a laureate of such prestigious competitions as the Gurwitz International Piano Competition (San Antonio, USA) Santa Cecilia International Piano Competition (Porto, Portugal), Enescu International Music Competition (Bucharest, Romania).
