This 60-member ensemble, composed of both amateur and professional musicians from across the Kansas City area, performs a diverse repertoire ranging from stirring patriotic marches and classical masterpieces to contemporary hits and Broadway scores. The series is designed to be highly accessible, offering free, family-friendly entertainment that invites residents to connect through the shared experience of open-air music. For the 2026 season, concerts are held on consecutive Sunday evenings at 7:00 PM throughout June and early July. Most performances take place at the Indian Creek Recreation Center Pavilion, while the final concerts of the season typically move to Thompson Park in Downtown Overland Park. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks to settle in for an hour of performance. To ensure the music continues regardless of the weather, the band schedules "rain dates" for the following Monday evenings, with updates shared via their social media channels.
